Tickets: Tickets should be purchased in advance but a limited number will be available at the door. Early ticket purchase ensures your place in the soup line. Tickets are available for a contribution of $15. Additional donations are happily accepted.
Kids eat free: Children 10 years old and under may enjoy a bowl of soup with breads and cookies. However, they are not entitled to a ceramic bowl. If you wish to have a bowl for a younger child please feel free to purchase an additional ticket.
Scheduling: This year we are not having time assigned “seatings”. Lunch will be served continuously from 11:00AM until 2:30PM. However, it is suggested that you come early or dine late. This might help you avoid the noontime rush. New bowls will be made available throughout the entire day. You do not need to be present at the earliest hour to insure getting a lovely bowl.
Environmental responsibility: It has been a battle for the Board of Directors to manage group hygiene, efficiency of operation, overall cost and environmental responsibility. This year the ceramic bowls will be coming to you unwashed. These bowls will not be used to serve soup at the luncheon. At the luncheon your soup will be served in a starch based bowl that, upon disposal, will have a minimal environmental impact. (Please wash your new ceramic bowl before you use them the first time.)
Even the volunteers purchase a ticket: All of the volunteers involved with this project purchase a ticket if they want to take a bowl home or to partake in some soup. We all believe in the goals of Empty Bowls and include our financial support as well as our time and efforts.
